The Development
In today's world of cordless and wireless applications, these batteries play an essential part in everyday life and are used in cellular telephones, PHS phone, and video cameras, notebook computers, and power tools. Sanyo also make shavers, lights, cleaners and other battery applied products, Lithium Batteries for cameras, Alkaline Manganese Batteries, Solar Cells, and lighting equipment for homes.

The Vision
Sanyo’s vision in the 21st century is to "Create comfortable living environment and enrich the lives of the people”.

The Possible Solutions    [ It would be better ]

According to the estimations of  Mr Yo Yeow Seng of Orient Technology – Singapore  (the distributors of Sanyo Batteries) - an average person in Singapore uses about 13 batteries per annum.  This makes the approximate consumption of Singapore at a figure of about 50 millions batteries a year. Thus Singapore disposes 50 millions dead batteries a year.

Imagine if everyone has been using  re-chargeable batteries in Singapore, each of which is recharged for 250 times (Half the times that the  manufacturers claim).  Singapore will be save on the cost of disposal management of 49,800,000 batteries a year.

Similarly, the world’s consumption can be reduced  from 30 Billion (of disposable batteries)  to only 120 million (of re-chargeable batteries) (30,000,000,000 / 250 = 120,000,000).  A fantastic reduction of  29,880,000,000 (Twenty Nine Billion & 880 million).

The mother earth would be saved from dumping of 29 billions over batteries and imagine the savings on the disposal management.

The Changing Situation

Off late the situation has been changing. Awareness among the world population is steadily growing.  Dry Cells and Alkaline Batteries can be used only once and then have to disposed.  Therefore many are turning from Alkaline or Manganese Batteries to Re-chargeables like Nickel Cadmium and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. These rechargeable batteries last many years – not days and can be recharged and used again and again.

Sanyo is among the world leaders – producing rechargeable batteries.

Future Trend

Healthy sales of digital cameras have focused market attention on the need of the high power, re-chargeable batteries.  Reputation for reliability has given Sanyo an early lead in the secondary market.

Today advanced digital cameras have greater power needs.

Running cost is increasingly an issue.

20 million units are estimated requirements by 2003.  Right now it is 17 millions.

Market Trends:

Environment

According to an estimate of Sanyo  30,000,000,000 batteries are consumed world wise each year.

Most countries of the world today face the problem of garbage disposal. You can save the earth by reducing the consumption drastically – which also means money saving for you.

You can do it very easily – provided you have the information - how to do it.

A rechargeable battery produced by quality manufacturer,  can be used for a period of 5 years or can be re-charged for about 500 time or more, depending on the quality of the battery and the charger.

Imagine if everyone has been using  rechargeable batteries, which is recharged for 250 times (Half the times of manufacturers claim).  You will reduce the world’s consumption from 30 Billions to only 120 millions (30,000,000,000 / 250 = 120,000,000).  A fantastic reduction of  29,880,000,000 (Twenty Nine Billions & 880 millions).

The earth would be saved from dumping of 29 billions over batteries and imagine the savings on the disposal management.
